Loyns Motor Concept Car

Project Alpha Main

The Factory was approached by Lyons motor to help CNC / 3D print the lower portion of a concept car body. Working with the client I was in charge of developing the CNC toolpath execution and strategy. This job was a very technical CNC job that required a lot of though on how to best program toolpaths that would yield the best outcome. Each block of HDU foam that was 6” thick. Having 5 ½” as well as features on both sides made it that much more complex. I was in change of splitting the model in favorable ways as well as developing the toolpaths to be milled. Being an automotive job, I knew tolerance is key which is why I even developed tolerance checkpoints operators could use to see if they are on the right track. This job has been one of the most technical CNC jobs I have ever done and it was a rewarding experience.
